Rant about majoring in art. =.=
I am a student majoring in Art and Design. I think I am lucky to be able to take that major, since some of my friends’ parents don’t support the idea of majoring in art. I am proud and happy that my parents give me full support. They trust me and my dream to become a world-class illustrator.
While most of my friends’ parents and most of people they know don’t.
They asked to people majoring in art, “You are majoring in art? What will you become? How will you get rich?”
That kind of question really burns my ears. They underestimate us majoring in art.
Another irritating comments came from my friends majoring in engineering. Some of them made an underestimating conversation with me.
Engineering Friend (EF) : Oh my god, the mid-semester test was so frustrating, I think I’ll got a C!
Me: Don’t worry, I bet you won’t get a C, you studied hard since you were born.
EF: You don’t understand! Your mid-term exam is easy, dude! Just draw and voila!
GEEZ. You think it’s easy??? Then why you can’t do art properly?!
They don’t understand. They JUST don’t understand that art is not just about drawing, it is about integrating your idea, crativity, logical ability to make an aesthetical works.
And some of them just don’t understand that life isn’t all about money. ;)
